LIFES ENCOUNTERS

What is Gender or Yin and Yang
These equate directly with the traditional astrological terms: diurnal ('of the quality of day') and nocturnal ('of the quality of night.
Yang means Sun or Light in Mandarin and Yin means Moon or shade. While opposite in meaning the two principles interact and are dependent on the other for existence. This principle of opposites applies throughout cosmic philosophies and is fundamental to the whole idea of energy exchange, both emanating from and creating Chi, the life force of the universe. The signs, beginning with Aries alternate from Yang to Yin adding a further layer of meaning to their differences, so that the planets are further modified in their expression.
YANG (diurnal) - Fire - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
YIN (nocturnal) - Earth - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
YANG (diurnal) - Air - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
YIN (nocturnal) - Water - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Fire is active, spirited and initiating.
Earth is practical, realistic and stable.
Water is emotional, perceptive and reflective.
Air is intellectual, logical and rational.
Fire and Air are the more objective or outer expression of life, the Yang energy of Chinese philosophy; and Earth and Water more subjective, inner, or Yin. Pervading all these four elements is the essence of the etheric that drifts and percolates through spirit body mind and feelings, touching each with a numinous link to the source of life. Some people have much of one element and may lack another, each individual will in some way be unique in his psychic make-up and the elements give an indication of how that person expresses their spiritual self as well as their mundane self. We can now add to our understanding of elements by realising that the Fire and Air signs are more pro-active or conscious, while the earth and water signs are more responsive, or unconscious
